Carlisle have confirmed enquiries have been made by Barnsley about teenage striker Kyle Dempsey.

Dempsey, 19, has scored five goals in 17 appearances this season after making the first-team breakthrough at Brunton Park. The Cumbrians said briefly on their official Twitter account: "Now confirmed that Barnsley have asked questions about first year pro Kyle Dempsey." Dempsey, who chose hometown club Carlisle ahead of a career in rugby league with Wigan Warriors, made four substitute appearances last season before his first start in the Capital One Cup defeat to Derby in August. He made his full debut in the defeat at Wycombe seven days later and struck his first goals in League Two in the 4-4 home draw with AFC Wimbledon in September.
