Hull City boss Steve Bruce is hopeful of signing Nick Proschwitz from German club Paderborn following talks with the striker.
Proschwitz has been discussing a £2million move to the Championship side after previously admitting an interest in joining Bundesliga new boys Greuther Furth.
Bruce believes the 25-year-old is "tailor-made" for the demands of English football, and is aiming to finalise a transfer by the end of next week.
"Nick has come out to the training camp and had a look at what we do," Bruce told the
Hull Daily Mail.

"Everything has been positive and we're hoping that we can tie up a deal. It's still a little bit off from what I can gather, club to club, and there's a few nuts and bolts to sort.
"We'd hope to get him over early next week for a proper medical and look to see if we can take him by the end of the week if things go well.
"He's big, 6ft 3in, but he's mobile and can finish. His goals in Germany last year were all different types. He's young, at a good age and wants to come to England.
"He's tailor-made for England in the way he plays but, of course, the big question will be how he can adapt.
"There's always a question mark over any import. Can they settle? Can they adapt? But he's been abroad before to Switzerland (with FC Thun) and I would hope he could settle in very quickly if the deal was to come off.
"I've been impressed with how he's come across talking to him. His English is perfect too, much better than mine!"
