Brown slams slack defence

Image: Brown: Feels team is making too many mistakes

Phil Brown left his Preston side in no doubt of his feelings after more Keystone cops defending handed Bournemouth a first league win in seven.

North End took the lead in Saturday's League One clash at Deepdale thanks to Juvhel Tsoumou's first-half strike but the Cherries responded through Wes Thomas shortly after the break. Scott Malone, on loan from Wolves, edged the visitors ahead before the impressive Marc Pugh capitalised on a defensive Preston mix-up between goalkeeper Iain Turner and Clarke Carlisle to seal a 3-1 win. And Brown admitted he got it wrong by sticking by his side, who have now shipped 13 goals in their last four matches. "For me, the massive turning point is the mistakes," said Brown, whose side are now 11th. "Not just from one, but from one or two and we never climbed that mountain again and after that, we seemed to become nervous and jittery. We're consistently making mistakes, consistently letting teams in or off the hook and again that's what happened here."
