Skipper keen to put injury woes behind him

Portsmouth captain Liam Lawrence has revealed he is finally fully fit and keen to put the most frustrating period of his career behind him. The former Stoke and Sunderland man initially suffered a calf injury back in February that was only expected to keep him out for two matches. However, the midfielder then aggravated the injury warming up as a substitute during a game against Scunthorpe in March, forcing him back on the sidelines. Further calf, hamstring and back problems hampered his pre-season preparations but, following intense treatment by the club's medical team, the 29-year-old is confident he can finally put his injury woes behind him. "Hopefully I can kick on now because it has been the most frustrating four months of my life, believe me," he told the Portsmouth News. "The injuries, coming back, getting injured and coming back again. "Now I want to put this behind me and push forward. I want this to be a good season for me and the club."
