Hill returns to former club to agree deals for Wiseman and Done

Barnsley boss Keith Hill has raided former club Rochdale to agree deals to bring Scott Wiseman and Matty Done to Oakwell. Hill left Rochdale to take charge at Barnsley at the start of the month and has now lined up a reunion with two of his old players. Wiseman will help to fill the void created by Jason Shackell's impending departure to Derby County, while Done only signed a new contract at Spotland last month. Defender Wiseman and winger Done are both due to finalise personal terms in the next 48 hours and Rochdale are disappointed to see the duo leave.

Best wishes

"I know a lot about Matt and Scott and it would have been nice to work with them but they have the chance to play at Championship level and I cannot stand in their way," Hill's replacement at Rochdale - Steve Eyre - told the club's official website. "I also don't want any players at the club whose hearts and minds aren't 100% Rochdale, so I'll give them my best wishes and move on." Rochdale chief executive Colin Garlick added: "We are disappointed to lose Scott and Matt but to be honest we were expecting Keith to come in for some of the players. "Following discussions over the last few days with Steve and the board we feel it is in the interests of both the players and more importantly the club that Scott and Matt are allowed to leave. "We have agreed a deal with Barnsley which we believe is a very good one and we will move forward."
