Former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson says he has had 'no contact' with his old club regarding a return to Oakwell.
The Tykes are looking for a new manager following Mark Robins' decision to step down and Wilson has been linked with the position.
Wilson recently left his role as Swindon Town boss and previously enjoyed four successful years in charge of Barnsley.
The ex-Northern Ireland international managed the club in the Premier League in the 1997/98 season, but has cooled talk of a potential return.
"It's complete speculation at this stage," said Wilson.
"I don't know if they're interested or not. I've had no contact with Barnsley, so I can't really comment on what's been said."
Asked if a return to Oakwell would be an ideal chance for him to get straight back into management, Wilson added: "It depends which way you look at it. I'm quite enjoying my holidays."
Current Rochdale manager Keith Hill has also been linked with the Barnsley vacancy following his excellent work at Spotland over the past four years.
