Gers forward missing against Brazil through injury

Rangers forward Steven Naismith has been forced to withdraw from Scotland's squad to face Brazil with groin and hamstring injuries. The versatile 24-year-old featured for half of their 1-0 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League on Thursday before playing the full 120 minutes of Gers' Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Celtic on Sunday. Head coach Craig Levein had hoped to utilise the former Kilmarnock man in Sunday's friendly, however, he will no longer be available for selection. Preston's on-loan goalkeeper Iain Turner is also missing for the game, while Scotland will continue to asses the knocks suffered by Celtic's Scott Brown and Sunderland's Phil Bardsley on Sunday. Scotland assistant Peter Houston explained: "Steven has a hamstring and groin injury from yesterday and Iain Turner is also out. "Phil Bardsley and Scott Brown, who took a knock yesterday as well, are joining us but we will need to assess them over there. "We will look to see if we need to bring anyone else in and Craig (Levein) and I will discuss it."
