Welsh defender determined to prove his worth

Blackpool defender Rob Edwards admits everyone will be doing their utmost to impress new manager Ian Holloway. Former Queens Park Rangers and Plymouth Argyle boss Holloway returns to management this summer after a year in the wilderness following his departure from Leicester City. Welsh international Edwards has established himself as a first choice, in his first season at Bloomfield Road following his summer move from Wolves, but refuses to get complacent as the club prepare for another survival campaign. The 26-year-old is currently on the treatment table following surgery on his ankle but is eager for a return to training to re-establish his place in the side. "You want to get in straight away and try and impress," Edwards told the club's official website. "From that first day you are staking your claim to be on the team sheet for the first game of the season. Everyone will be looking to impress straight away."
