Lincoln City have taken Simon Heslop on trial from Barnsley.
The Imps are running the rule over the 21-year-old with a view to signing him on loan.
Heslop has already spent a chunk of this season in League Two with Lincoln's rivals Grimsby.
He has since returned to Barnsley, but they have allowed him to link-up with Lincoln for the rest of this week.
Meanwhile, Imps assistant boss Iffy Onuora admits the lack of a regular goalscorer at Sincil Bank has all but derailed Lincoln's bid for the play-offs.
"You know before the start of a season that if you're going to get 70-plus goals, you need your strikers to score a good proportion of them - and they haven't done that," he told the Lincolnshire Echo.
"Our top scorers have nine with Adrian (Patulea) and Dany (N'Guessan). We're going to scramble into double-figures with our leading goalscorer, which isn't enough.
"You need six or seven or your outfield players to score similar amounts.
"There's no hiding place, that's been a problem, particularly at home."
