Barnsley youngster Dale Tonge has agreed to join Gillingham on loan for one month.
The midfielder has not been a regular fixture in the Tykes first team and will now hope to figure prominently for the League One side.
The Gills have moved to bring Tonge in following injuries to Matty Jarvis and Michael Flynn, whilst Andrew Crofts' inclusion in the Wales squad has further weakened their options for Saturday's clash against Carlisle.
Manager Ronnie Jepson (pictured) is looking for Tonge to make a big impact during his short stay at Priestfield.
"He's a good addition to the squad, he played in the promotion winning Barnsley team last year on a regular basis and I've seen him play on a number of occasions," Jepson told the club's official website.
"He will help strengthen our team, and I think the supporters will like what they see."
Jepson is also hoping to bring in further signings ahead of Thursday's Football League loan transfer deadline.
"I'm on it with the chairman at the moment with one or two and we are trying, but so is every other club in the Football League," Jepson added.
"We are all falling over each other for certain players, and we are trying our best to attract them here, as are the other clubs, so we will see what comes of it between now and Thursday."
Barnsley have also sent young defender Ryan Laight on loan to non-league side Alfreton Town.
