Darlington have signed Ricky Ravenhill and Tommy Wright on loan with a view to permanent deals.

Ravenhill arrives from Grimsby Town and worked with Darlington manager Dave Penney at Doncaster Rovers, while Wright comes in from Barnsley.

The deals are initially for a month, but Penney is hoping the attack-minded duo will stay with the League Two club in the long term.

"Ricky and Tommy are being brought in on loan, but we are looking at the possibility of making these moves permanent, should things work out," Penney told the club's official website.

"These signings add strength and depth to our midfield and forward lines and will be among the squad at Bury tonight.

"Ricky is a player I know well and both he and Tommy will give us extra options to build upon Saturday's win and get ourselves back up the table."

Ravenhill had only been at Grimsby since September, while Wright has recently been on loan at League Two leaders Walsall.

Barnsley had also accepted an offer from Rotherham United for the striker, but Wright's personal demands proved too exorbitant for Alan Knill's side.
