Barnsley manager Andy Ritchie has confirmed he hopes to secure trialist Colin Healy to a contract at Oakwell.
The Republic of Ireland international was handed a trial by The Tykes earlier this month as he searches for a new club after leaving Livingston during the summer.
A number of Championship outfits were interested in Healy but Barnsley hope the 26-year-old will pen a contract at the club in the near future.
Healy was involved as Barnsley were defeated 3-1 by Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening and Ritchie was impressed by the midfielder's performance once again.
"I thought Colin Healy did really well when he was out there. He always goes after the ball and has a good range of passing," Ritchie told the club's official website.
"He plays a little like George Boateng out there and hopefully we will sit down with the chairman this week to sort something out."
