Spireites keen on Jarman

Barnsley striker Nathan Jarman has attracted the interest of Chesterfield.

Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie has revealed striker Nathan Jarman has attracted the interest of League One outfit Chesterfield.

The Spireites are hoping to sign the 19-year-old on loan after some impressive displays last season.

Ritchie is keen for his young striker to gain further experience at a lower level and has confirmed Chesterfield are interested in bringing him to Saltergate next season.

Jarman was involved in Chesterfield's pre-season friendly against Matlock on Monday but as yet no deal has been agreed between the two clubs for a loan switch.

"I have not spoken with (Chesterfield assistant manager) Lee [Richardson] yet but I think they are going to monitor the situation with Nathan."

Meanwhile, Welsh Under-21 goalkeeper Kyle Letheren will get the chance to win a contract with Barnsley.

Letheren was released at the end of last season by Swansea City but will join Ritchie's squad for a trial this week.
