Leicester defender Ritchie De Laet is confident his team will not be relegated.

City’s 3-1 defeat at Manchester United on Saturday left them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, three points off Burnley in 17th place.

The only good news was that most of the other teams above them – QPR, Hull City, Burnley, West Brom and Crystal Palace also lost on Saturday.

City face Palace next week at home, which looks a huge game for City, with tough away trips to Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City to follow.

But they still have to play Hull, West Brom and Burnley in the coming weeks, with their last two games are against fellow strugglers Sunderland - away – and then QPR at home on the last day of the season.

De Laet remains upbeat about their prospects of staying up.

"The United game was a bonus game, no one was expecting us to take anything from it," said De Laet, who left United for Leicester three years ago.

"But our confidence is still high.

"I think we can get out of it. You just have to look at the last five performances. We have had three wins out of them so we know we can give teams a good game.

"We still have everyone to play around us and those are the important games."
