Leicester boss Nigel Pearson says the club followed the rules regarding Jeff Schlupp

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson says he is not expecting the club to be reported to FIFA by Ghana following Jeff Schlupp’s return from injury at the weekend.

Schlupp was unable to join Ghana’s squad for the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month after Leicester reported that he had a knee injury, which was subsequently independently verified.

Pearson predicted that the versatile 22-year-old would be out of action for a fortnight and he was duly able to return and start Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to Stoke, playing for 70 minutes before being taken off.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson states that transfer negotiations are at a 'stalemate'

And a report emerged this week suggesting coach Avram Grant and other Ghana officials were unhappy about the situation and might even report Leicester to world football’s ruling body.

However, Pearson said: "There isn't a situation with Ghana. I've not heard anything. If there is, it's contrary to information I've heard officially.

"The rules are there, we've acted well within them, and there you have it. It's their choice."

Asked whether he could understand why members of the Ghana camp might be a little frustrated, Pearson said: “No.

"I made it perfectly clear he would be out for 10 days to two weeks, which he was.

"He had an assessment and scan by us, and he then went to London for an independent one, which was arranged by them and concurred with our findings.

"The assessment by our people and theirs was the same - 'Don't fly’. A decision was based on that, because he had to the following day. I fail to see how anybody can have a problem with that."
