Midfielder joins Potters from Wolves

Stoke City have completed the signing of winger Michael Kightly from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee. Sky Sports revealed earlier this week that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs, with only personal terms and a medical to be put in place. Stoke confirmed that a deal has been done on Wednesday, but have not revealed the length of the contract signed or the value of the transfer fee involved. Manager Tony Pulis is understandably delighted with the acquisition and believes Kightly will bring important competition for places.

Strong competition

"There is nothing better than to have strong competition in all areas of the squad and Michael's arrival will give us that in the wide positions," he told the club's official website. "I've long been an admirer of Michael, not only in terms of him being a provider, but also the fact that he gets his share of goals. "Our two wingers, Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant, have been brilliant for this football club over the past few years, but they went off the boil in terms of goalscoring last season, so we wanted to address that. "Competition for places will bring the best out of them again and that is what Michael's presence will give us in that area."
Huth's recovering
Meanwhile, Stoke have revealed that defender Robert Huth is suffering from viral meningitis, which is the milder form of the illness. The Germany international was rushed into hospital earlier this week amidst fears for his health, but it now seems that he is not in a critical state. The 27-year-old will remain in hospital for the next few days as he continues his recovery process.
