Powell not blaming Hamer

Charlton manager Chris Powell refused to blame goalkeeper Ben Hamer for his part in the shock 2-0 defeat by Colchester.

The runaway League One leaders were behind to Anthony Wordsworth's wonder-strike before Steven Gillespie grabbed the killer second after blocking a clearance from Hamer. It meant Charlton were beaten at home for the first time since April, but they are still 13 points clear at the top. And Powell said: "Ben's been excellent for us. "A real top keeper, but he's made a mistake. "I don't need to tell him anything. It's there in technicolor. It sometimes happens."
