Leicester star Andy King has dedicated his goal in the win over Blackpool to the memory of Gary Speed.

The world of football has been in mourning ever since Wales boss Speed was found dead in his home in Cheshire on Sunday aged 42.

King, who played under Speed for Wales, admitted it was hard to play against Blackpool following the death of his former boss and that his goal in the 2-0 victory was a thank-you to Speed for all he had done for his career.

Thanks

"Yeah [it was hard to play], but ultimately Gary Speed was a football man and I think he would want people to play football and it was nice for me to score as a little thank you to say thanks for all he done for my career," King told Sky Sports Radio.

"He played me for Wales in some big games and I have been fortunate enough to be in all his squads and I am really grateful for that and all the stuff he has done for my career and there is no way I can thank him more than that."

King admits Wales will find it hard to replace Spain ahead of their World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign.

"He was brilliant, he was calm but he got his points across," added King.

"The tactics he showed were good, they were working for Wales and he created a great atmosphere around the place and a real hunger and desire that everyone wanted to come and play and everyone was enjoying their football and I think that showed from everyone on the pitch."
