Three sides looking to preserve perfect starts

Three Championship sides are looking to maintain their 100 per cent starts to the new season as Southampton, Brighton and Derby lead the way. Southampton have taken England's second tier by storm this season and Nigel Adkins' side will be quietly confident of getting the better of Millwall, who are unbeaten this term, at St Mary's. Brighton have also continued to ride the wave of confidence on the back of promotion, although Gus Poyet's troops face a tricky home tie when ex-Premier League side Blackpool visit on Saturday. It was a season of struggle for Derby County last term, but they have come full circle this time around and only rock-bottom Doncaster Rovers stand in their way of a fourth consecutive league win this weekend. Middlesbrough are enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season with away wins over Leeds and Barnsley moving Tony Mowbray's troops into fourth spot. Boro entertain Carling Cup winners Birmingham on Sunday. Back-to-back wins have seen West Ham respond following their opening weekend loss to Cardiff City. Sam Allardyce has a strong squad, so expect fireworks when Leeds visit Upton Park. Crystal Palace are sixth in the Championship table, although Dougie Freedman's troops will be coming up against a Hull City side at the KC Stadium smarting following their midweek drubbing at Leeds. Cardiff City's home defeat to Brighton saw them lose their 100 per cent start in midweek, but the Bluebirds will be the favourites to topple a Burnley side still looking for their first league win. Reading will be keen to recover from their 1-0 loss to Portsmouth in midweek by getting the better of Barnsley who suffered a 3-1 home defeat to high-flying Boro on Tuesday. Two of the bottom three sides go head-to-head on Saturday when Coventry host Watford. Neither side has a single point from their opening three games so it is sure to be an interesting affair at the Ricoh. Bristol City moved out of the drop zone in emphatic fashion with success over highly-fancied Leicester and they could make it two wins on the bounce against Portsmouth at Ashton Gate. Leicester's position as favourites has faltered following consecutive defeats, and things do not get any easier for Sven Goran Eriksson's troops on Saturday with a tough match against Nottingham Forest. Peterborough have four points from their early season exploits and they entertain an Ipswich Town team at London Road still smarting following their 5-2 home defeat to leaders Southampton on Tuesday.
