Preston boss weighing up decisions regarding loan players

Darren Ferguson is hopeful that he will be able to keep Manchester United youngster Matt James at Preston North End next season. James has impressed for Preston since joining on loan in February and he has scored twice in 16 appearances for the Championship club. Lilywhites boss Ferguson has previously expressed an interest in signing the 18-year-old on a permanent basis, but is now exploring another loan deal. With Tom Williams and Elliott Ward also currently on loan at Deepdale, Ferguson confirmed he has some decisions to make in the coming weeks. "I have to take the three of them into the equation with the budget and I think I have said before that I am looking to extend Matty's loan for another year and I think that will get done," Ferguson told the club's official website. "We still have two games left and I have already had one meeting with the board, but we'll probably have to have one or two more to decide exactly where we are going to go and that will make my mind up on them." James has yet to make a senior appearance for United, and played alongside his Old Trafford team-mate Danny Welbeck at Preston before the striker picked up an injury.
