Leicester City have terminated the contract of winger Joe Hamill by mutual consent. The 22-year-old leaves The Foxes after just one season with the Championship side, having been signed by Craig Levein from Scottish Premier League outfit Hearts.
Hamill made only a dozen starts for the Midlands club and current Foxes boss Rob Kelly has decided he would be surplus to requirements for the coming season.
"Joe's a terrific young man who wants to get on with his career," Kelly told the club's official website.
"But we've got Danny Tiatto here already and Levi Porter is emerging, so I just thought it would maybe be hard for Joe to force his way into the side.
"He wants to kick-start his career and we all wish him good luck. It is time for him and us to move on."
