Foxes axe Hamill

Leicester City have terminated the contract of winger Joe Hamill by mutual consent.

Leicester City have terminated the contract of winger Joe Hamill by mutual consent.

The 22-year-old leaves The Foxes after just one season with the Championship side, having been signed by Craig Levein from Scottish Premier League outfit Hearts.

Hamill made only a dozen starts for the Midlands club and current Foxes boss Rob Kelly has decided he would be surplus to requirements for the coming season.

"Joe's a terrific young man who wants to get on with his career," Kelly told the club's official website.

"But we've got Danny Tiatto here already and Levi Porter is emerging, so I just thought it would maybe be hard for Joe to force his way into the side.

"He wants to kick-start his career and we all wish him good luck. It is time for him and us to move on."
