Leicester City's new signing Gareth McAuley has revealed his delight at joining the Championship club.The former Lincoln defender has joined the Midlands outfit on a three-year deal after sealing a free transfer move.
McAuley spent two seasons with Lincoln, but has revealed his ambition was always to play at a higher level.
"It's what I've been after all along to be honest," McAuley told Sky Sports News.
"Of course I moved across from part-time football to Lincoln, but this is the standard I wanted to come to.
"I've had to learn my trade at Lincoln and now it's a good move for myself.
"I'm now looking forward to getting going with Leicester."
Leicester boss Rob Kelly believes McAuley has all the attributes to make the step-up to The Championship.
"We believe he can make the step up. I think he has the attributes that dictate he can be a success in this division," said Kelly.
"He fits the profile of where we are going. We want to grow and develop."
