New boy delight at Foxes move

Gareth McAuley has revealed his delight at joining Leicester City.

Leicester City's new signing Gareth McAuley has revealed his delight at joining the Championship club.

The former Lincoln defender has joined the Midlands outfit on a three-year deal after sealing a free transfer move.

McAuley spent two seasons with Lincoln, but has revealed his ambition was always to play at a higher level.

"It's what I've been after all along to be honest," McAuley told Sky Sports News.

"Of course I moved across from part-time football to Lincoln, but this is the standard I wanted to come to.

"I've had to learn my trade at Lincoln and now it's a good move for myself.

"I'm now looking forward to getting going with Leicester."

Leicester boss Rob Kelly believes McAuley has all the attributes to make the step-up to The Championship.

"We believe he can make the step up. I think he has the attributes that dictate he can be a success in this division," said Kelly.

"He fits the profile of where we are going. We want to grow and develop."
