Barker secures shock win

Shaun Barker scored the only goal as Rotherham won at Leicester.

A first half goal from Shaun Barker was enough to give Rotherham their second victory of the season and their first away from home, as they beat Leicester 1-0.

Barker capitalised on some hesitant Leicester defending to grab the only goal on 37 minutes, stabbing the ball home after the City defence had failed to clear Paul McLaren's inswinging corner.

Rotherham's chances of avoiding relegation remain slim, but with Cardiff, Nottingham Forest and Gillingham all failing to win earlier in the day they have at least closed the gap on the teams above them.

Leicester were awful as they crashed to their fifth home defeat of the season, creating few goalscoring opportunities in a dreadful first half display.

They did improve after the break, carving out chances for James Scowcroft and Dion Dublin, but neither could find the back of the net.

Dublin somehow headed over from close range when he should have levelled, before Scowcroft missed in similar fashion at the back post.

David Connolly then came close to forcing an equaliser in stoppage time, but his header came back off the crossbar.
