Leicester City defender Richard Stearman has signed a new contract.Leicester City youngster Richard Stearman has expressed his delight at signing a new contract with the Championship club.
The England youth international has emerged into the first team picture with The Foxes this season and made his debut from the substitutes' bench at Cardiff City on Saturday.
Stearman's progress has earned him a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Midlands club, having signed on the Friday that Craig Levein was appointed Leicester's new manager.
"I'm thoroughly happy with what I've got and that I'll be with Leicester for the next three years," Stearman told the club's official website.
"It's a nice reward for what's been a good start to the season for me and I hope I can continue to improve.
"I've been biding my time, waiting for my chance, and now I've got my reward.
"The new manager has now come in and I hope he'll select me. I'll be looking to impress him and get in the team on Tuesday."
One player that has decided to leave The Walkers Stadium is Finnish youth international Tomi Petrescu.
The teenage hit-man, who signed a three-year contract with The Foxes in April 2003, reached a mutual agreement to end the remainder of his deal after making just one first team appearance for the club.
Petrescu hopes to have his future with another club sorted out by the end of the month.
