QPR midfielder Sandro continues to recover from a nasty knee injury and hopes he will be able to return to training in a fortnight.
The 25-year-old Brazilian joined QPR from Tottenham in September but has been absent since damaging the medial ligaments in his right knee during a 1-0 loss at Newcastle on 22 November.
However, Sandro told the QPR website on Wednesday: “I am now feeling much better.
“I have started to do some running and fitness work, and I hope I can return to full training in a couple of weeks.
“I am doing a lot of gym work because I lost a lot of power in my leg. I could not do any work with it, now I feel better.
“I have to work to build up my fitness, because I have not played for so many weeks.
“I have started to do running outside and, in the next couple of weeks, I will be working hard to build on this and then return to full training with my team-mates.”
QPR are 16th in the Premier League table, just two points clear of the drop zone, and a fight against relegation could be on the agenda over the remainder of the campaign.
And manager Harry Redknapp has mentioned that the return to fitness of Sandro will be a major boost to his squad.
Sandro said: “I am doing my best to be back as soon as possible, because I hate to see games where I cannot help my team-mates.
“I am working hard to be ready as soon as I can. It has been so frustrating but now is the time to push forward. We have to push forward as a team.”
