Queens Park Rangers coach Joe Jordan has told Sky Sports there is now a belief in their camp that they can avoid relegation.

Big game

Jordan admits the win over Sunderland was a big game, as is their next clash with Aston Villa next week. "We played a team that was going to take the game to the opposition. It was a brave selection by Harry and it proved its worth as we needed the three points, which we got and were deserved," he said, admitting that beating the teams around you is important. "It is something that gives you a lift and can be a drain on the opposition, we are looking forward to it [Villa] because it gives us a chance to do something with our position - but that is not the only one between now and the end of the season as we can affect a number of things." Rangers did hit the headlines last week because of a mid-season trip to Dubai but Jordan insists that the trip was required. "It was something we could have done without but it was exaggerated to the extreme, and you have to look at the reasons - it was uncalled for and we went there for the right reasons," he added. "One of the reasons we went to Dubai was because we brought six players in and unless you have the team spirit and camaraderie, you can't succeed. And it worked, we didn't need the newspaper article as we were out there for the right reasons."
