Steve Cotterill has agreed a short-term deal to assist Harry Redknapp and his Queens Park Rangers backroom team.
Cotterill, 48, who left his last managerial position at Nottingham Forest in the summer - will work alongside Redknapp, assistant manager Kevin Bond and first team coach Joe Jordan.
An R's spokesman said it was "an open-ended arrangement" with no fixed timescale.
Cotterill was replaced by Sean O'Driscoll as Forest boss in July less than 48 hours after the Al-Hasawi family took control of the Championship club and after nine months charge.
He had earlier spent spells at Cheltenham, Stoke City, Burnley, Notts County and Portsmouth as manager.
