Mark Hughes was pleased to see Queens Park Rangers pick up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Norwich.
Having been thumped 5-0 by Swansea on home soil last weekend, it was imperative that Rangers took something from a trip to Carrow Road.
They were able to do just that, with Bobby Zamora reacting quickest to seeing Djibril Cisse's first-half penalty pushed onto the post to secure a share of the spoils.
Norwich had broken the deadlock through Simeon Jackson, but Hughes believes a battling performance from his side was deserving of a share of the spoils.
He told
Sky Sports: "It was important from our point of view. We had a poor display on the opening day of the season which we were disappointed with, so it was important to take something out of this game.
"I'm pleased enough with the draw. It was a game of very few chances but I thought we defended well.
"You come here and there will be long balls you have to deal with into the lad (Grant) Holt, who does really well. You have to be able to deal with that and, in the second half particularly, I thought Anton Ferdinand dealt really well with that and nullified that threat.
Dangerous
"We were always dangerous on the break without ever picking the right pass at the right time. We were always a threat, but in terms of what we needed to take out of this, it was a positive performance to get off the mark and get points on the board.
"It was important to start our season, and that's what we talked about. We were stuck in the stalls last weekend so it was important that we came out and got something out of the game."
Hughes has been busy bringing a number of fresh faces into his Loftus Road squad this summer and there is a chance that the recruitment drive is not finished yet.
QPR have been strongly linked with the likes of defensive duo Michael Dawson and Ricardo Carvalho and further deals could be tied up before the 31st August.
"In terms of personnel that we are able to bring to the club, we will have to wait and see," Hughes added.
"We have done really well in this window and if we can't get any more in that we think could help us, then so be it. In terms of what we have been able to bring to the club, I'm very happy."
