Di Matteo coy on pair's future

Blues boss fends off questions regarding Benayoun and Malouda

Roberto Di Matteo has refused to speculate on whether Yossi Benayoun and Florent Malouda will see out the summer transfer window with Chelsea. Neither player was included in the Blues' matchday squad for a 2-0 victory over Wigan on Sunday. Both have been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after falling out of favour. Benayoun spent last season on loan at Arsenal after slipping down the pecking order, while Malouda was targeted by Brazilian giants Santos before they were put off by his wage demands. The pair would be encouraged to move on, with first team opportunities set to be thin on the ground, and have until the end of August to find a new club.

No news

Di Matteo, though, is reluctant to divulge his plans for the experienced midfield duo. Asked about the prospect of either being allowed to leave permanently or on loan, he said: "We'll have to see until the transfer window closes. "At the moment, they're with us and part of it." Di Matteo is also keeping his cards close to his chest when it comes to possible new arrivals, claiming there is 'no news' regarding a proposed move for Marseille full-back Cesar Azpilicueta.
