QPR will carry out internal investigation over midfielder's dismissal

QPR have revealed that Joey Barton will be subject to an internal investigation following the midfielder's sending off against Manchester City. Barton is also facing a Football Association hearing after his red card for elbowing Carlos Tevez, before lashing out at Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany. The FA had previously confirmed that Barton faces two charges of alleged violent conduct for his actions after being sent off on Sunday. QPR lost the fixture 3-2, despite being 2-1 up without Barton on the pitch going into the 90th minute. The controversial midfielder is facing a lengthy ban, having been sent off already this season, and the club have announced that they will investigate the matter further. A club statement said: "Queens Park Rangers Football Club can confirm that a full investigation in relation to Joey Barton's dismissal and subsequent events against Manchester City on Sunday will be carried out following the conclusion of his FA hearing. "The club will be making no further comment at this stage."
