Djibril Cisse hopes firing Queens Park Rangers to Premier League survival will earn him a place in France's squad for Euro 2012.

The striker will on Saturday evening return from a four-match suspension when his club, who sit just two points clear of the relegation zone, host London rivals Tottenham.

Cisse has already apologised for twice managing to get himself sent off since joining Mark Hughes' QPR in January, which has seen him miss seven games.

And now the former Liverpool, Sunderland, Marseille and Lazio forward is focusing on making up for lost time and also grabbing a place at Euro 2012, where England will be among France's opponents.

Cisse said in the Daily Mirror: "I still want to get into the France squad. But it's up to me to score goals, show what I can do.

Energy

"It's a shame I've missed seven games, but I've got four big games to show what I've got.

"It's a tough group with England. It (Euro 2012) will be a nice tournament to be involved in.

"We've got a strong squad. I say France or England are favourites. I say we'll finish first, then maybe England. But we'll see."

Cisse's red cards and colourful personality have seen some people make comparisons to controversial Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli.

And the QPR man said: "It's the same for him, he's not a bad boy. I talk to Samir Nasri all the time and he (Balotelli) is a good guy. He's not crazy.

"I was like him when I was young. I was full of energy. I like him. We met once. But I like his character and we need characters in the game."
