QPR striker joins League One side for remainder of season

Experienced striker Patrick Agyemang has joined Stevenage on loan for the remainder of the season from Queens Park Rangers. The 31-year-old featured in just two Premier League games for the Loftus Road club this season back in August and took in a short loan spell with Millwall in October. With Mark Hughes having replaced Neil Warnock at the helm in January and bolstered his striking options with the arrival of Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse, it was clear Agyemang was well down the pecking order. Stevenage boss Gary Smith, who knows the former Wimbledon striker from their time together with the Dons, moved to secure his services in a bid to boost his squad at a crucial stage in the season.

Pedigree

The Broadhall Way side, who saw their FA Cup run finally halted by Spurs in a fifth-round replay on Wednesday night, are well placed to challenge for a play-off place. Smith told the club's official website: "Patrick is a striker who always has a goal in him. You can't question his ability and his goal-scoring pedigree. "His addition will bring an experienced head into a dressing room of players that is on the right track and I think he will really benefit us for the end of season run-in. "I know him from my days at Wimbledon and not only do I look forward to having him as another option in the squad, but I am also looking forward to teaming up with him again."
