Senegal have confirmed the selection of in-form Newcastle striker Demba Ba for January's African Cup of Nations.

In-form Newcastle striker will be leaving for African Cup of Nations

Senegal have confirmed the selection of in-form Newcastle striker Demba Ba for January's African Nations Cup. Ba has hit 14 Premier League goals this season, but will leave Magpies manager Alan Pardew with a headache when he hooks up with his national side for the continental tournament that runs from 21st January to 12th February. Pardew hopes he can hold on to Ba until 15th January, when his side play QPR in the league. Ba is one of several impressive attacking options at Senegal coach Amara Traore's disposal, with Lille's Moussa Sow, the top scorer in Ligue 1 last season with 25 goals, Freiburg's Papiss Demba Cisse and FC Copenhagen's Dame N'Doye all highly rated. QPR's Armand Traore, Wigan's Mohamed Diame and Guirane N'Daw of Birmingham are the other English-based players in the 23-man squad for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Senegal face Equatorial Guinea, Zambia and Libya in Group A.
