Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of Chesterfield defender Ian Evatt.

The R's began talks with the player earlier this week after having a six-figure bid accepted by The Spireites.

Although Evatt is currently holidaying in Majorca, a QPR delegation flew out to finalise the contract.

The 23-year-old has now put pen-to-paper on a three-year with the Loftus Road club that will keep him with Ian Holloway's side until 2008.

"By coming out here I wanted to show Ian the same kind of enthusiasm that he has shown towards us," explained R's chairman Bill Power.

"He asked if we could fly out to see him on his holiday and we could get his signature so that he could tell people that he's a Hoop.

"We placed a rather tentative bid and we're delighted when we were told we could talk to him. The enthusiasm that he's got and will bring to this club is fantastic."
