The winger is being released by The Bees after manager Wally Downes opted not to renew the 24-year-old's contract.
But Rowlands has been quick to secure new employers and is expected to wrap up his short move to Loftus Road on July 1.
Rowlands made over 180 appearances for Brentford during five years at Griffin Park but ended his Bees career on a sour note after breaking his leg against Wigan in April.
Losing play-off finalists QPR are believed to have no qualms about Rowlands's ability to recover from the injury and the club expect the wide man to be fit to play a full part in pre-season training.
The former Farnborough Town ace will undergo several stringent medical tests before signing a two-year contract with The R's.
