PLATT SLAMS STRIKER STORY

NOTTINGHAM FOREST boss David Platt has dismissed newspaper speculation suggesting that he had signed Leicester City's Richard Cresswell on-loan for the remainder of the season.

Whilst Platt was prepared to admit that he had made tentative enquiries about taking the former Sheffield Wednesday man to the City Ground, he insisted that he had never initiated any positive move to secure the striker's signature.

Cresswell joined Leicester during September 2000 in a £750,000 deal but has failed to make any impression at Filbert Street, starting just three Premiership games throughout this season.

Along with a move to Forest, the 23-year-old has also been linked with fellow First Division rivals Queens Park Rangers.
