Liverani praises Orient side

Boss Fabio Liverani hailed Leyton Orient after they won their "six pointer" at Coventry to escape the bottom four.

Josh Wright's first goal for over three years grabbed a huge survival lifeline for the O's as they stunned the Sky Blues 1-0. The hosts bossed the game for long spells and Mathieu Baudry cleared off the line from Conor Thomas, Grant Ward hit the post and Jim O'Brien twice went close. But Wright's first goal since February 2012, when he scored against Burnley for Millwall, helped Orient climb two points above the Sky Bet League One relegation zone. Liverani said: "It was an extremely important result for us, this was a real six pointer. "The spirit of the players was something that has never been lacking since I arrived. "It was the reason I was happy to stay even when we were losing games and were struggling. "This was always present - and it got us the three points. "I was particularly pleased that the goal came from Josh Wright. "He's a player who always tries to motivate and give something extra. "His performance was crowned with a goal. "We had 10 to 15 minutes when we really struggled, that's true. "But because of the goalkeeper and defender, and some luck, they didn't score." Tony Mowbray is still waiting for his first home win as Coventry boss, having won three away games, and they remain just three points above the bottom four. The Sky Blues have won just once in the league at the Ricoh Arena in the last five months and Mowbray is under no illusion their home form must improve. He said: "We're all fully aware of the last four games at home, one point from a possible 12. We have to go to Notts County (on Monday) and try to be positive again and try to keep our points tally ticking along. "We have to win another few games and try to secure our place in the division. I couldn't knock their determination, desire and effort to win a game. "One madness moment and the ball is in our net despite all the threat we carried. It's about putting the ball in the net and keeping it out at the other end and the basics have to be done. "We'd have been disappointed with 0-0 because of the opportunities we created but to lose it is even worse."
