Jackett admits Ricketts interest

Kenny Jackett has confirmed Coventry's interest in Sam Ricketts but denied the defender is set for talks with the Sky Blues.

New Coventry boss Tony Mowbray has enquired about the 33-year-old and his interest remains on-going. Reports claimed Ricketts was due to speak to Coventry on Monday but he trained with Wolves in the morning and Jackett expected to see him at their Compton training base in the afternoon. He said: "They made an enquiry, I don't know what Sam's decision is. It'll be his decision and if he decides to pursue that the club will talk finances and length of time. The only thing available is an emergency loan anyway. "He has been with us this morning, training, and he'll be around this afternoon. Nothing has been done about it but there is interest. "No he hasn't (spoken to them)." Ricketts has made just five appearances this season, the last coming against Brentford in November, but Jackett praised his professionalism. "He has been very good when he has played in the under-21s he has played well," said Jackett. "He has done day-to-day coaching with the defenders, that has been more of his role in recent weeks. "His choices are does he want to continue playing as long as possible, does he want to go into a coaching career? Those things are what he'll be thinking about." Meanwhile, Dominic Iorfa is out of Tuesday's visit of Sheffield Wednesday with an ankle injury. Jackett added: "He missed Saturday's game, it's not a long-term thing and while he won't make Tuesday he has a chance for Friday (against Derby)."
