Clough chuffed with comeback

Nigel Clough was full of praise after watching 10-man Sheffield United fight from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw with Coventry.

United looked dead and buried when, following Jose Baxter's early red card, Dominic Samuel pounced either side of the interval to put City side in the commanding position. But first Michael Doyle and then Jamie Murphy pounced to stretch United's unbeaten run to four games and heap further pressure on City's under-fire manager Steven Pressley. "When you come back from that position it feels as good as a win," Clough said. "Well, almost anyway. "We had to play some good football but, even more importantly, show the right mentality and belief. "If we hadn't, then that wouldn't have been possible. It shows that even when the lads are up against it, you can't write them off." Baxter saw red for a poor tackle on Adam Barton and Clough added: "We've got no complaints about it. You can't go in like that these days. "We'll miss him for three games now and, from Jose, it was poor discipline. "But, in fairness to the lad, he's apologised and it wasn't like him. I'm not sure what was going through his mind." Coventry have slipped into the relegation zone after their winless run was extended to seven matches. Pressley said: "I couldn't fault the lads out there. They are giving everything for this football club. "What cost us out there though was a little bit of inexperiene. We had a very young team and it showed at times. "I was thinking, at 2-0 up, that this was going to be the ideal performance from us. Especially at a place like this. "But we couldn't see it out. I felt genuinely sorry for the boys in there and I told them that afterwards in the dressing room. "Sometimes, it can be tough playing against 10 men because the opposition have nothing to lose. Sheffield United showed that mentality out there and, credit to them, got back on level terms."
