Pressley hoping for late present

Coventry have been given Christmas Day off by manager Steven Pressley - in the hope they deliver him a late present.

The Sky Blues boss believes handing his squad some family time could help them to a Boxing Day win at Doncaster. They beat Peterborough 4-2 on Boxing Day last year after being granted Christmas off. And, with his side 17th in League One, Pressley feels it is important to allow his players to relax. "We didn't train last year on Christmas Day and had a good result against Peterborough on Boxing Day," he told the Coventry Telegraph. "It's been something since I have been manager that I have never asked the players to come in. I think it's a day to spend with your family and switch off and recharge the batteries and, so far, I have had a good response from that. "I think sometimes when you drag players in, some from long distances, it doesn't have a positive effect. So allowing them to relax with their minds away from football for 24 hours can have a real positive impact, so they'll have the day off. "I trained on Christmas Day many times as a player and stayed away at hotels on Christmas night, so it's not a time when you get much free time. But for that one day I feel it's important to spend it with your family."
