Coventry defender Danny Pugh is closing in on a return to first-team action after his two-month injury lay-off.

The 32-year-old, who joined the Sky Blues in the summer following his release from Leeds, has been restricted to seven appearances due to an ankle injury. "It's been a very frustrating time for me, hopefully I'm past it now and can really push on from here," Pugh told the club's official website following a successful 90-minute run-out with the Under-21s. "I felt alright, it was my first game back for a long time. "Obviously I have to get some rustiness out of the system and that will continue to come. "I got the injury at the start of season and unfortunately I did it again after the Bristol City game. "It's the first time I've ever had the injury and it's been a very frustrating time for me, but hopefully I'm past it now and can really push on from here. "It's important for me to keep getting that match fitness and I'm pleased to get 90 minutes, I really want to get back now."
