Crawley bring in Clarke

Crawley have secured the services of Charlton striker Leon Clarke on loan until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old was preparing to join the Addicks on their coach trip to face Scunthorpe in League One, before the Red Devils made their interest clear at the last minute. Clarke told Crawley's official website: "I was told by the gaffer (Charlton manager Chris Powell) that Crawley wanted to sign me. "I took a telephone call from (Crawley manager) Steve Evans and within 20 minutes of talking to him I decided I wanted to join them. "It's a move that really excites me. The chance to play regular football at such a progressive club and in a promotion battle was too good to turn down." The former Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday striker is eligible to face Port Vale at the Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
