Swansea new-boy Rory Donnelly has revealed talking with Scott Sinclair helped persuade him to move to the Liberty Stadium last month.
The Northern Irish striker joined the Welsh side from Cliftonville during the January transfer window, penning a three-and-a-half year deal.
Reports suggested Liverpool and Everton were among the other clubs who had been targeting the 20-year-old's signature.
But Donnelly was put off joining a high-profile side after a conversation with the Swans' star winger Sinclair.
Convinced
"I was chatting with Scott Sinclair. He went to Chelsea and he said you can get lost at such a big club," he told the
South Wales Evening Post.
"He's come here and has done well and the gaffer played a really big part as well.
"It's more like a family club. The supporters get on really well with the players. There are no big-time players here."
Donnelly insists there is no pressure from Swans boss Brendan Rodgers to make the jump into the first team and is happy featuring in the club's reserve side for now.
"Brendan (Rodgers) has said he's not putting any pressure on me," he added. "He doesn't want me to be in the first team now. There's no pressure on me.
"He said 'just keep on doing what you're doing and we'll see if you can get in next year'.
"Swansea give youth a chance to play really good football."
Settled
The Belfast-born striker is adjusting to life in South Wales, adding: "I've settled in well. The players are great, they've made me feel really welcome.
"All I can do is repay them by scoring goals to help the team. It's a big step up so it's something I'll have to get used to.
"The boys play really good football and that's why they are where they are.
"It's more of a physical challenge and I have to adjust to the speed as well - I'll keep working on that."
