Boro boss Tony Mowbray is keen to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window and has made an offer for the 22-year-old, who coincidentally scored against Boro in Saturday's draw between the two sides.
The 22-year-old joined The Sky Blues last summer on a three-year contract after the club paid Everton £300,000 for his signature.
Jutkiewicz netted nine goals during his debut season at the Ricoh Arena and he has bagged two goals so far this term.
Burnley saw a bid rejected for Jutkiewicz earlier this summer, while Southampton were also thought to be keen on the highly-rated forward.
