Prutton makes Owls switch

David Prutton has left Swindon on a free transfer and signed a two-year deal with Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder, 29, who has seen his contract cancelled by the Robins, made 46 appearances this season having arrived at the County Ground last summer but was unable to prevent the club's relegation to League Two. Prutton, formerly of Nottingham Forest and Southampton among others, becomes the second player to depart the Wiltshire outfit this summer after Michael Rose moved to Colchester. Owls boss Gary Megson told Wednesday's official website: "I've admired David Prutton for a long time and first and foremost he has character and he will put demands on everybody else." New Swindon manager Paolo Di Canio was unveiled on Monday and is targeting an immediate return to League One.
