Boro confirm broken jaw for defender

Middlesbrough have confirmed that defender Seb Hines will miss the rest of the season after breaking his jaw. Hines sustained the injury during Boro's 3-3 draw at Ipswich on Tuesday as he collided with team-mate Joe Bennett and Connor Wickham. The 22-year-old will now need surgery after breaking his jaw in two places and will not return until next season. "He has a broken jaw in two places," said manager Tony Mowbray. "He's in hospital and will have an operation in the morning. "Seb Hines is a fantastic human being. The fact that he went back onto the field says it all. That's what I'd expect a centre-half to do. "I'm sure he'll be okay, the medical department are looking after him and hopefully he'll be back in the North East in one piece."

Ruled out

Boro have also confirmed that Merouane Zemmama and Nicky Bailey look set to miss the rest of the season. Moroccan Zemmama picked up a hamstring injury at Portman Road, whilst Bailey damaged ankle ligaments at Sheffield United. Striker Marvin Emnes is also sidelined after he accepted a Football Association charge over violent conduct following an incident at Bramall Lane. Emnes accepted his punishment before Boro's game with Ipswich, so he will be back within a couple of weeks.
