Ferguson plans clear-out after listing several players

Preston North End will hold talks with Youl Mawene about a new contract after putting several players on the transfer list. Mawene's current deal at Deepdale expires at the end of June and he will shortly start discussions with manager Darren Ferguson about an extension. The defender admits he is keen to stay with the Championship club after making almost 200 appearances since joining from Derby County six years ago. "We haven't really talked yet, I was back in France for a while recently," Mawene told the Lancashire Evening Post "I want to stay at Preston - that's my priority." However, while Mawene may secure a new deal with the Lilywhites, winger Chris Sedgwick and defender Liam Chilvers will not be given extensions. Elliott Ward and Tom Williams will return to Coventry and Peterborough respectively, while players currently out on loan - Eddie Nolan, Stephen Elliott, Neill Collins and Neal Trotman - have been told they can leave. Michael Hart, Richard Chaplow, Darren Carter and Neil Mellor have also been placed on the transfer list by Ferguson.
