Us boss hopes midfielder will stay past the summer

Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd has confirmed he wants to extend the contract of midfielder David Prutton. The 28-year-old joined the Us in January after being released by League One rivals Leeds United. The midfielder's short-term contract is set to expire in the summer but Boothroyd is keen for Prutton to remain in Essex. "I am looking to extend his stay," said Boothroyd. "From when he first arrived he has been a big presence around the squad and a voice in the dressing room. "He has something to say and I like that, and I make sure I give it back! We'll be talking to him and seeing what we can do."
