Skysports.com understands Coventry are on the verge of signing Stockport ace Carl Baker.
Baker has been one of Stockport's shining lights in a difficult season for the League One strugglers.
The Hatters are resigned to losing Baker with the cash-strapped club being forced to sell their best players to stay afloat.
Baker, who has scored 13 goals this season, has now been given permission to open talks with the Sky Blues and he is expected to travel to the Ricoh Arena to meet boss Chris Coleman.
Coventry have been busy in the transfer market so far this month and they are hoping to tie up a move for Baker so that he could be available for this weekend's game with Barnsley.
