Coventry City's new manager Iain Dowie is keen to resolve the dispute between Robert Page and Michael Doyle.
The players clashed prior to Dowie's arrival, an incident that left Page with a damaged hand and Doyle missing a number of teeth.
Dowie believes the on-going speculation is still hindering The Sky Blues and is keen to push on and steer the club clear of the Championship drop zone.
"The incident happened before I came to the club but it is still dragging on," stated Dowie.
"People telling stories over the weekend does not help resolve the situation, which is what I will do.
"Both players, just like everyone else at the club, start with a clean slate. I understand that it is a physical sport and confrontations happen.
"I will have a chat with both of them. I've known Pagey for some time and Doyle is a player that has a lot of promise so we need to make sure their minds are focussed."
